Today's Class

Today in class I showed my three compositional ideas. I was leaning to doing Gareth Morgan in the woods killing cats (thumbnail number 2 in earlier post). However Matt and Claire said that the narrative of Gareth terrorising a town would work better compositionally and be more impactful which I agree with now.

Refining composition

Ive narrowed down to three compositional ideas

1. Is what was suggested in interim, Gareth over town

2. Gareth in woods with dead cats behind him and someone hiding behind tree watching

3. Gareth in woods chasing a cat which is running off the composition

The other image is what I was thinking in terms on perspective for the two in the woods.

Artist Model

i have been looking at work by Gerhard Human and want to use him as my artist model because I really like his use of line and colour. His website

Interim

I developed one of my thumbnails for interim, I drew it in ink and then scanned it into photoshop and added tone. Only black and white at this stage as I'm not sure on the colours yet.

The feedback I got was that it looked too vampirish and that the narrative was missing a lot of things such as the cats and the onlookers. It was suggested that I draw Gareth Morgan really large over a town of people fleeing with their cats which I like the idea of.

Gareth Morgan

I've been struggling with getting my head around the chem trails conspiracy so I've changed to why Gareth Morgan hates cats which I think will be more fun anyway. I've thumb nailed some different ideas and at this stage my favourite is Gareth Morgan as a werewolf, playing on the whole dogs hate cats thing.

Chem Trail Thumbnails

These are my first set of thumbnails about chem trails. After class today I realise now that they are only showing the conspiracy theory, not the creation myth behind it.

TIME

I feel that both chemtrails and Gareth Morgan would fit well in TIME magazine. Chemtrails could be in new scientist however it has a lot of social and political aspects which TIME covers well, and new scientist usually covers more serious scientific stories.  TIME also has stories on important, influential people which I suppose you could say Gareth Morgan is.

Chem Trails & Gareth Morgan

At this stage I am looking at two conspiracy theories, Chemtrails and why Gareth Morgan hates cats.

Chemtrails

Chem trails conspiricists believe that condensation trails behind aeroplanes are actually trails of chemicals being spread for the population to inhale.

Possible reasons for this are:

• environmental modification and control
• biological operations
• military applications
• planetary and geophysical modification
• a global surveillance system

Gareth Morgan

New Zealand economist Gareth Morgan created a campaign to eradicate cats, suggesting that owners not replace their cats when they die. His website Cats to Go states "That little ball of fluff you own is a natural born killer" and of course public backlash followed.
